Lesson Planning


Topic:Communication

Subject: Social studies

Class:VI

Time:50 minutes

Teaching Learning Materials:

       -Projector/ Television

       -Work sheet( Handouts)

Previous Knowledge: Students are already familiar with sending messages using mobile, laptop or through writing in a piece of paper.

ICT model: TPACK

  • Content Knowledge(ck)-Understanding the concept of Communication, types of Communication, change in communication.

  • Technological Knowledge(TK)- Use of PPT, videos.

  • Pedagogical Knowledge(PK)- Guided learning, Collaborative  Learning, Independent learning.




Lesson Objectives:

-At the end of the lesson , student will be able to

  • Define  communication in their own words,

  • Classify electronic and non-electronic means of communication,

  • Analyze one effectiveness of present communication.

 

Lesson Introduction:( Guided learning)

  • Begin the class by discussing the meaning of communication and some of the importance of communication in our daily life.

  • Engage students on communication concepts through the use of real life examples.

Letting students talk to each other, writing a letter to parents back at home.


Lesson Development


Activity 1

-Students in a pair will work on the worksheet given by the teacher.

Instructions: 

  1. Identify the means of communication given in the handouts..

  2. Separate them into electronic and non-electronic communications. 


Activity 2

  • Students in a pair will discuss the types of Communication 

      - Discuss examples of each type and their significance in various context


Activity 3 (collaborative learning)

   - Lead a class discussion on what students learned from the activity and how they can apply effective communication skills in their daily lives.

   - Encourage students to share any challenges they face in communicating with others and brainstorm solutions together.


Lesson closure:


 - Summarize the key concepts covered and emphasize the importance of practicing good communication skills.

   - Encourage students to continue developing their communication skills both inside and outside the classroom.



Extension:(Independent learning)

-  Students will do home tasks that require them to practice specific communication skills, such as writing a letter to a friend, giving a short presentation, or participating in a group discussion.

-Students will  Integrate technology by using educational apps or online resources to explore communication and find out its effectiveness in the present generation.



Assessment:

  • Teacher will assess students when they do pair work and their participation in the class will be observed to grade accordingly.
